These linked modules aim to build on reading, writing, speaking, and aural comprehension skills acquired in the first year post 'A' Level Portuguese course and to prepare the student for the self-motivated learning and development required in the third year, spent abroad. The three weekly hours are distributed between translation and grammar classes, and oral work in small groups. Classes are taught in the target language by a native speaker. The three hours are fully integrated. There will be a thorough revision of specific grammar points, and students will build up vocabulary and linking phrases. Coursework will consist of grammar exercises and oral presentations, written and listening comprehension as required.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of these linked modules the student will be able to: Demonstrate competence in the four language skills in Portuguese and show a full understanding of the structures of Portuguese.
