Aims of the Programme The aims of the BSc Public Health (Hons) is to critically examine health and the determinants of health in a wide variety of contexts. This includes local, national, international and global aspects and perspectives, with the focus of study extending from the health and well-being of individuals and families, through communities, to the health of populations at national and international level.
Programme Outcomes

Understand epidemiology, to a level that enables the formulation of appropriate questions about health at a population level and the selection of appropriate techniques through which such questions can be addressed
Knowledge and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
Awareness of the sources of health information e.g. electronic databases
Understanding of the global social, political and economic factors which affect the health and wellbeing of individuals and populations
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of health inequities and how to reduce them
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of how to protect the public from environmental hazards and communicable disease
Demonstrate an understanding of how to audit, evaluate and re-design services to improve health outcomes across a range of settings
Awareness of the strategies for working collaboratively across agencies and boundaries (including political) to improve health
Critically appraise styles of leadership and management and justify the use of particular approaches.
