Description The objective of this module is to introduce students to the French legal materials and provide them with an understanding of French legal reasoning. The following topics are studied: The French courts structure. French legal professions. French legal methods.
Learning Outcomes On successful completion of these linked modules the student will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the French legal system and of its founding principles; Demonstrate an understanding of the main differences between French Law (Civilian tradition) and English Law (Common law tradition); Read and understand French cases and French academic writings; Draft essays using French drafting methods; Discuss general rules of French legal system using the adequate French legal concepts.
