Aims of the Programme To provide medical and dental students with the opportunity to study an area of interest in greater depth than is possible during the MBChB or BDS and additional, specialist training in quantitative and qualitative methods.
Programme Outcomes
Students are expected to have Knowledge and Understanding of: Which will be gained through the following Teaching and Learning methods: and assessed using the following methods:
1. Standard research methodologies used in historical, sociological and psychological research.
2. Behavioural sciences, ethics, public health, occupational health or history of medicine which is additional to their learning from the MBChB or BDS course.

Students are expected to have attained the following Skills and other Attributes: Which will be gained through the following Teaching and Learning methods: and assessed using the following methods:
1. Competence in the critical appraisal; of the literature in the area of their research
2. The ability to develop a research question, carry out a personal research project and submit a written report describing, to a good academic standard.
