B.A. Anthropology and History with Year Abroad Full-time

Year: 4
2023/24 Session

Students must take either a 40-credit Dissertation or a 20-credit Extended Essay/Independent Study during their final year. The 40-credit Dissertation, or the 20-credit Extended Essay / Independent Study can be taken either in Anthropology, or in Classical Literature and Civilisation

Students may request an exemption if they are undertaking a substantial amount of independent work on the other side of their degree programme, but no student should take less than 20 credits of independent work across their degree programme in their final year.

Students taking the 40 credit Dissertation module should choose a further 20 credits from a list of options available within the department.

Students taking the 20 credit Independent Study module should choose a further 40 credits from a list of options available within the department.

Students who are exempt from the Dissertation and Independent Study modules should choose 60 credits from a list of options available within the department.

Subject to the approval of the programme lead students may also include in their history total up to 40 credits of optional modules offered by departments other than history. Students may only take one dissertation module and their credit total must include at least one non-dissertation module.
