Exclusions
Description The module is designed to develop language skills up to CEFR B2 level, within a range of specific registers of Spanish. Particularly, those areas relating to politics, society/social issues, economics, business and the professional world.The module will develop students’ intercultural awareness in Hispanic countries in the professional world.

Students will be supported to develop their accuracy in the written language, their reading and aural comprehension skills, and their fluency in the spoken language.The course is entirely taught in Spanish.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate understanding of the main ideas of a complex text on both concrete and abstract topics
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity which guarantees effective interaction with native speakers in a professional environment.
  • Produce clear texts on topics related to the business, professional, political or the economic worlds.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the intercultural differences in Hispanic countries.
  • Successfully perform a range of written, and aural tasks, including essay writing, and discussion of a broad spectrum of topics related to the business, economic, political and professional spheres.
  • Translate short texts in the chosen register from Spanish into English and from English into Spanish.
Assessment 33900-01 : 300 word translation English to Spanish : Coursework (30%)
33900-02 : 48 hour take home aural test : Coursework (30%)
33900-03 : 48 hour take home grammar test : Coursework (40%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment: 300 word translation from English into Spanish, Week 9 (30%), 1 hour Listening Comprehension Test/Aural Test (30%) and 1 hour Grammar Test (50%)
Reassessment: Resit failed components in the Supplementary Examination period
