2026/27 Session
Students must choose ONE 40-credit independent study module from the department in which they are taking 60 or 80 credits. Students taking only 40-credits in a discipline cannot take a Dissertation in that discipline.
In consultation with the programme lead, students taking 60 or 80 credits in History may replace 20 credits in Semester 1 with ONE 20 credit Future or Professional Skills module OR students taking 60 or 80 credits in CAHA may replace 20 credits with ONE 20-credit skills module in either semester.
Students cannot take any LH modules they have taken at LI.
All optional lists are indicative; not all modules will run each year depending on staff availability.
Credits must be evenly balanced across semesters.
The University Regulations permit students registered to Joint degrees to vary their credit weighting in their second and final year. A minimum of 40 credits and a maximum of 80 credits must be taken in each discipline in year). Students who undertake less than 160 credits in one of their disciplines will graduate with a major/minor
Students must choose ONE of the following independent study modules:
Students taking 80 credits in DASA and 40 credits in CAHA
DASA: Students choose 40 credits of optional modules (20 in each semester) plus the 40-credit DASA Dissertation CAHA: Students choose 40 credits of optional modules (20 in each semester), which may include LH Professional Skills in Semester 1.
OR
DASA: Students choose 40 credits of optional modules (20 in each semester) plus the DASA Dissertation CAHA: Students choose TWO co-requisite Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20 credits in each semester).
Students taking 60 credits in DASA and 60 credits in CAHA
DASA: Students choose ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 1 plus the 40-credit DASA Dissertation CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 2 plus TWO co-requisite 20-credit Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20 credits in each semester).
OR
DASA: Students choose ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 2 plus the 40-credit DASA Dissertation CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 1 plus TWO co-requisite 20-credit Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20 credits in each semester).
OR
DASA: Students choose TWO 20-credit optional modules in Semester 1 and ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 2 CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit optional module in Semester 2 plus the 40-credit CAHA Dissertation

DASA Optional Modules.
This list is indicative; not all modules will run each year depending on staff availability.
Students may also apply to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H. If successful this will be taken in place of one of their semester 1 taught modules. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation. Students who undertook a Professional Skills module at level I will not be able to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H.
