Exclusions
Description This module offers opportunities for students to critically evaluate their own fitness to practise through challenging learning activities while assessing their capability to manage broader and more complex aspects of physiotherapy practice. This will include self-evaluation of how the learner might adapt to meet the complex needs of individuals and their carers, considering how physiotherapy and wider healthcare services, through service development and service improvement, may meet those needs. Evaluation of physiotherapy services will be explored in terms of-with reference to the evolving contexts in which services are delivered and the expanding knowledge and skill set needed by practitioners taking on new roles. Links to wider health care policy and the contemporary health and social care agenda will be examined to include putting patient / population needs at the centre of public health responsibility, healthcare leadership and research potential within physiotherapy as it seeks to deliver safe, high quality services designed to enhance health and well-being.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:
  • Critically evaluate and adapt practice to assist individuals with complex and continuing needs, and their supporters achieve an enhanced health and social well-being.
  • Critically evaluate the impact of health care policy and organisation on the development and delivery of high quality services
  • Critically appraise the evolving nature and scope of contemporary physiotherapy practice and the implications for practictioner professional development
  • Develop, critically analyse and evaluate strategies for continuous professional development and appraise the strengths and weaknesses of own clinical practice, demonstrating capability to address identified deficits
  • Demonstrate critical understanding of the importance of developing confidence and capacity to influence, initiate and lead change within an ethical leadership framework.

19673-02 : Writte report : Coursework (70%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:

Poster / Infographic presentation and accompanying written component

1. Poster / Infographic - Present a project idea which aims to fulfil a service redesign, service improvement, or introduction of an innovation or technological improvement leading to the enhancement of patient care. 30%

2. Submit a written piece of work as accompanying critical commentary to justify the project 70% (1500/ 1750 words)
