Description
This required component will provide a transition to clinical practice offering students opportunities to act as participant observers in both service learning and practice placement settings. Work-based learning will take place in clinical settings currently used around the West Midlands and beyond
The students will have the opportunity to identify learning needs from previous clinical experiences and attempt to address these needs within a different health care situation. The opportunity will exist to build on skills developed during previous placements and to learn new profession specific knowledge skills and to acquire new knowledge.
The students will gain experience of physiotherapy practice within a clinical setting. Teaching and learning methods will include treating patients with the guidance of a clinical educator, observation of experienced clinicians treating patients, tutorial, seminars, discussion and participation in/observation of clinics, case conferences, and ward rounds as appropriate

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Negotiate individual learning outcomes and demonstrate problem-solving skills in planning, organising and satisfactorily completing the placement
Demonstrate ability to manage a caseload at junior grade level, demonstrating effective communication, teamwork, assessment and treatment skills.
Assess the needs of a range of service users and, with reference to current professional knowledge and relevant research, apply, evaluate and modify physiotherapeutic intervention
Demonstrate skills of life-long learning
