This module aims to further develop and extend listening, reading, speaking and writing skills acquired at French Level 4. It caters for students at a higher intermediate level (who have reached A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference). More emphasis will be put on developing learning strategies and debating skills. You will learn to cope with a variety of less predictable real-life situations, using a main textbook as well as a range of material from authentic sources: newspapers and magazines, radio and TV programmes and the Internet. However, particular emphasis will be put on receptive skills (reading & listening). The course content will be delivered in a lively and interactive way, through activities designed to enable you to use the language in context, either in small groups or in pairs.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Read and understand both didactic documents and selected authentic articles in the target language;
Demonstrate understanding of both didactic and authentic recordings about selected topics;
Access and work from a variety of resources in the target language autonomously;
Show evidence of working towards use of the French language to B1.1 level of the CEFR for languages.
