The theory and practice of sport business management, event management and marketing in sport, including planning processes, project management tools and techniques.
The key factors involved in supporting meaningful and inclusive learning for all in Physical education and physical activity contexts and in enhancing participation and performance for diverse learners in sport.
The organisation and management of sport in the UK, and internationally, including the moral and ethical issues which underpin best practice.
The relationship between different areas of research and professional practice.
The programme is delivered through a range of methods that includes lectures, practical sessions, seminar discussions, placements (some being optional) and a residential course.
Assessment of knowledge and understanding is conducted through a wide range and combination of formal examinations (e.g. MCQs essay-type questions) and assessed coursework. Coursework can be individual, or group based and include essay and report writing, reflective portfolios, study proposals, poster and oral presentations. Practical assessments (e.g., lab reports, teaching/coaching) are also included. Assessments are aimed to be authentic requiring writing, thinking, reflection and application in relation to a variety of audiences and learners.

Aspects of applied sports sciences including human anatomy, psychology, motor development, physical activity/health
Multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary foundations of professional practice in sport, physical education, and coaching

Lectures, seminars, practical sessions, labs and online tasks (when appropriate). Formal and informal discussions during lectured and seminars/practical sessions, as well as individual and collaborative and individual tasks are designed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding. Key transferable skills are developed through a range of learning and teaching strategies. Students will engage with a range of subjects through lectures, group work and seminar discussions. Portfolios, personal tutorials and learning diaries (where applicable) all combine to help students to reflect upon their personal learning experiences and to identify appropriate learning strategies. The project module in particular involves the further development and application of these skills at Level H and Masters level.
