Exclusions
Description	This module presents a fusion of linguistic and analytical competencies to allow students to build on the subject expertise acquired in previous Language for Commerce modules and explain the significance and relevance of that knowledge. Through the interrelation of comprehension, speaking, listening and writing, students on the module will develop their understanding and expertise in the Spanish language, with specific reference to key debates in the Spanish-speaking world and more specifically to the politics, society(ies) and economy in the Spanish speaking world. Speaking will not be directly assessed in semester 2 through the means of an oral presentation on a topic previously negotiated with the lecturer. The module will build on knowledge acquired in previous Language for Commerce modules to prepare students for expressing ideas in sophisticated written Spanish and being able to translate both from Spanish into English and from English into Spanish
Learning Outcomes	By the end of the module students should be able to: Demonstrate understanding of spoken standard Spanish to a high level Converse fluently and express complex ideas in Spanish Write essays, reports and commentaries in the appropriate register of Spanish; being able to summarize and analyse different type of texts Translate different texts and different registers into and from Spanish and English with accuracy Be able to draw from authentic written and aural Spanish-language material to gather information on a variety of topical issues and present them to an audience using persuasive, idiomatic and accurate spoken Spanish
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions	Assessment: - One 2-hr exam in the summer exam period, consisting of one reading comprehension + writing task and 1 short grammar-translation exercise (50%) MSEP and Oral exam: 15 minutes oral presentation + 5 minutes of questions (50%) MSEP. Reassessment: No resits are permitted in final year. If students miss the assessed task owing to extenuating circumstances, the failed task would be rescheduled at a later date.
