Description The module examines in depth the fundamental properties of molecules and how we observe them, building on the principles and concepts delivered in pre-requisite modules (LC Physical Chemistry I, LI Physical Chemistry IIa and LI Physical Chemistry IIb). Areas covered include experimental techniques and theory for probing and understanding atomic and molecular systems.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and concepts associated with the material delivered in each area;
  • Apply their acquired knowledge and understanding to the solution of relevant problems, including unseen examples;
  • Apply their knowledge and understanding to rationalise observations and trends, including previously unseen data;
  • Demonstrate judgement in the choice of method to study a given process or solve a problem.
