B.A. Classical Literature and Civilisation with English Language Full-time

Year: 3
2025/26 Session

Students must choose ONE of the following 40-credit Independent Study modules

The University Regulations permit students registered to Joint degrees to vary their credit weighting in their second and final year. A minimum of 40 credits and a maximum of 80 credits must be taken in each discipline in both years (subject to a total number of 120 credits in each year). Students who undertake less than 160 credits in one of their disciplines will graduate with a major/minor degree.

Students taking 80 credits in CAHA and 40 credits in English Language

CAHA: Students choose 40 credits of options (20 in each semester) PLUS the 40-credit CAHA Dissertation
English: Students choose 40 credits of options (20 in each semester)
OR
CAHA: Students choose TWO co-requisite Special Subject options to the value of 40 credits (20 credits in each semester) PLUS the 40-credit CAHA Dissertation.
English: Students choose 40 credits of options (20 in each semester)

Students taking 60 credits in CAHA and 60 credits in English Language

CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2 PLUS the 40-credit CAHA Dissertation
English: Students choose TWO 20-credit options in Semester 1 and ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2
OR
CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1 PLUS the 40-credit CAHA Dissertation.
English: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1 and TWO 20-credit options in Semester 2
OR
CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2 AND TWO co-requisite 20-credit Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20 credits in each semester).

Students may also apply to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H. If successful this will be taken in place of one of their semester 1 taught modules. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation. Students who undertook a Professional Skills module at level I will not be able to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H.
