Aims of the Programme 1. To describe, understand and explain contemporary empirical developments and theoretical concepts related to management and leadership in health systems.

2. To design and conduct robust independent research related to Health services management.
Programme Outcomes
Students are expected to have Knowledge and Understanding of: Which will be gained through the following Teaching and Learning methods: and assessed using the following methods:
1. Concepts in the provision and funding of health-care services and their implications for health and health-care

2 .Theories of leadership and organisational change, and their application in health-related systems

3. Policy design and policy implementation in a healthcare context

4. The use of different tools and techniques for the management, measurement and improvement of service quality in health-care

5. Understand commonly used research methodologies in healthcare, from a theoretical and practical perspective

2. Apply learning from general concepts and specific empirical case-studies to healthcare leadership and management in different social and economic contexts

3. Demonstrate how learning about leadership can contribute to improving healthcare services in the student’s own work context.

4. Apply knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods in the context of the student’s own independent research project

5. Apply subject specific knowledge gained to practical aspects of their own research
