Languages in Action is a vocational module in which students will learn about cultural organisations in the city of Birmingham and explore ways of promoting multilingualism, multiculturalism and community through activities appropriate to those organisations.
In Languages in Action A students will be introduced to a variety of contexts though classroom-based lectures and via presentations delivered by speakers from relevant institutions, projects and groups. Seminars will offer students opportunities for extended reflection and communication activities centred on hands-on research into cultural organisations in the city. Students will develop note-taking, research and report-writing skills, all focused around exploring the contribution that speaking more than one language can make in the context of a multicultural twenty-first century city.
