2025/26 Session
Students must choose ONE Independent Study module. Students choosing to do an 80:40 split in one particular department must take the relevant independent study module and the Special Subject in the other department.
Students choosing 60-80 credits in CAHA may replace 20 credits with ONE 20-credit LH Professional Skills module if not undertaken at LI.
All optional lists are indicative; not all modules will run each year depending on staff availability.
Credits must be evenly balanced across semesters.
Students must choose one of the following Independent Study modules:
Students taking 80 credits in CAHA and 40 credits in History
CAHA: Students choose 40 credits of options (20-credits in each semester), which may include ONE 20-credit LH Professional Skills module, PLUS the 40-credit Dissertation History: Students choose two co-requisite Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20-credits in each semester)
Students taking 60 credits in CAHA and 60 credits in History
CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1, which may include ONE 20-credit LH Professional Skills module, PLUS the 40-credit Dissertation. History: Students choose two co-requisite Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20-credits in each semester) AND ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2.
OR
CAHA: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2, PLUS the 40-credit Dissertation. History: Students choose two co-requisite Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20-credits in each semester) AND ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1.
OR
CAHA: Students choose two co-requisite Special Subject modules to the value of 40 credits (20-credits in each semester) AND ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1, which may include ONE 20-credit LH Professional Skills module,. History: Students choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2 PLUS the 40-credit Dissertation.

Students taking 40 credits in CAHA and 80 credits in History

Students taking 40 or 60 credits in History and the CAHA Dissertation may choose TWO co-requisite Special Subject modules (one per semester) to the value of 40 credits from a range of options that will vary from year to year depending on staff availability.

Students taking 60-80 credits in History, with the approval of the programme lead, may choose 20 credits of approved modules offered by another School in place of one of the History options on Lists A or B. Credits must still be evenly balanced across semesters.
Students taking 60-80 credits in CAHA may choose 40 credits of optional modules (20 in each Semester). This may include up to 40 credits of appropriate level language modules. Optional modules: This list is indicative; not all modules will run each year depending on staff availability.
Students may apply to undertake a placement module in their final year. If successful, they will take this module in place of one of their semester 1 options. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation. Students who undertook a Professional Skills module at level I will not be able to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H.
