Aims of the Programme To provide access to BSc Honours level education in Geography for higher quality students of which the majority are traditionally post A-level (G6.3; G6.4; G6.7).
To produce graduates of high quality with a broad understanding of the complexities of our societies, economy and environments (G2.3; G3.3; G3.15).
To maximize flexibility and opportunities for choice of modules so that UG students develop from an initial understanding in contemporary human geography and environmental processes and maintain that breadth of study throughout the programme or move forward towards increasing specialization (S4.1; G1.7; G2.3; G2.5).
To provide students with the possibility of experiencing current research, its methodology and significance (G3.12; G3.16; G4.4; G4.7).
To encourage students to progress from dependent to independent learners and critical thinkers (G1.7; G2.3; G3.2; G3.10; G3.15; G4.7; G5.5; G5.8; G6.7).
To stimulate students to acquire a long-term interest in , and enthusiasm for geography and scientific scholarship (G2.5; G3.10).
To enable students to move into a range of geographical careers, either immediately after graduation or following further specialist training (G2.5; G4.1; G4.9).
To encourage the development of transferable skills (e.g. intellectual, numerical, analytical, communication) enabling students to move to diverse contemporary occupations (G2.4; G3.1; G3.12; G3.13; G4.1; G4.4; G4.7; G4.8; G4.9; G6.3).
To provide experience of living abroad while undertaking the appropriate undergraduate courses at a continental University (G3.6; G3.15; G4.9).
Students will spend one year at an overseas university taking an appropriate combination of modules of their choice on a pass/fail basis.

How science training is approached in another European country
Lecture, tutorials, seminars, field and laboratory practicals, IT-based learning exercises, extended dissertation in final year. Student will study at a continental university on geography courses at the appropriate level and subject to the normal teaching and learning methods.
Exams at the ends of the modules of Years 1, 2 and 3. In-course assessment by means of assessed essays, field and laboratory reports. Assessment of a research-based dissertation in Year 3.

Interactive sessions and learning materials on report writing and oral presentation. IT-based learning resources. Additionally students will study in a University abroad and will follow geography courses at the appropriate level.
In-course assessment by means of assessed essays, field and laboratory reports. Assessment of a research-based dissertation in Year 3.
