Year: 3
2025/26 Session
The year abroad, year in industry, or Year in Civic Leadership will contribute jointly with year 2 to stage II, which contributes 25% of the overall classification. Across the whole of stage II, 240 credits will be attempted and 120 credits count towards degree classification. These will consist of the marks for the top 120 credits from the whole of stage II, taking account of any Major requirements, at least 100 of which must be at level I or above.
Year Abroad The equivalent of 120 credits in the year abroad will be attempted. The modules available will depend on the availability of modules at the institution the student is travelling to.
Business Year in Industry. Students who major in Business may, with the permission of the Dean of Liberal Arts & Natural Sciences or their appointed deputy, and in consultation with the Head of the Business School or their nominee, take the Business School’s Year in Industry module instead of the LAS year abroad.
Year in Civic Leadership (YiCL) This is a suite of modules allowing students to put into practice the theoretical knowledge and skills developed during their academic studies, and to critically reflect on this activity.
Students devise a civic engagement project in collaboration with local community actors. The modules will deepen students’ appreciation of civic engagement, encouraging them to think about how they can make change and enrich the communities in which they live. Students will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge and skills to an authentic policy challenge in collaboration with a local community actor.
