Aims of the Programme To enlarge the scope of the existing Joint Honours programme in order to enable students to benefit from the personal development and additional skills provided by a year's study at a North American University. The aims of the existing programme are that students should display an informed understanding of the development and culture of the North American world; show an awareness and understanding of such issues as class, gender, race, ethnicity, region and politics and some of their interconnections; gather, organize, explore and interpret appropriate materials with initiative and independence of judgement; demonstrate to potential employers and others that they are of excellent graduate quality, able to communicate views and arguments cogently and in different forms of writing and orally.
Programme Outcomes

Students are expected to have a knowledge and understanding of selected areas of the history and culture of North America and of other selected areas and themes in historical studies. The year in North America will give students a direct exposure to the society which they are studying
