Progression

must pass a minimum of 100 credits. All Birmingham 80 credits and a minimum of 20 JNU. contributing credits

Achieve IELTS 6.0 no band under 5.5; or TOEFL iBT 80 overall with no less than 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking and 19 in Writing; or PTE 51 in all four skills; or Cambridge English: Advanced Minimum overall score of 169, with no less than 162 in any component (Progression is allowed if this is not achieved, but must reach this standard by year 4)

Up to 20% of the cohort of students (with a max. of 20 students) will have the opportunity to undertake the third year of their programme in Birmingham.

Refer to appendix 1 for the list of modules the students will take for the specific programme when in Birmingham.

To be considered for the Year in Birmingham study, students will have to demonstrate their academic knowledge and performance based on the following criteria:
a) The standard progression requirements from Year 2 to 3 and credit accumulated (include these as noted in the current spec) and a minimum 65% weighted average for all modules from Year 1 and Semester 1 of year 2
b) Students must be in possession of a valid IELTS 6.0 overall no band under 5.5
c) Submission of a 250 word personal statement on why they believe they should be chosen to participate in the Study Abroad programme.

Where more applicants are in possession of the above requirement than the permitted spaces (20% of the cohort with a max. of 20 students), candidates will be shortlisted in the first instance by a GPA calculation and then the weighting of UoB Year 1 & 2 modules. Students whose extracurricular activities as student reps, sports activities and social entrepreneurship will be prioritised.
