Aims of the Programme The programme in BA Cultural and Creative Industries aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop and sustain meaningful careers in the global cultural and creative industries. The course offers a unique blend of the study of the cultural and creative industries in terms of investigating their ecologies, current trends, policy frameworks, regulation, technologies, and business models, with creative and artistic opportunities that will prepare graduates for future employment as creative and cultural leaders and visionaries, artistic/creative directors, educators, facilitators, and producers.

This industry- focused and applied programme draws on research and practice-led expertise in theatre, performance, film, creative writing, arts and cultural policy, visual arts, curation, production, and digital media, as well as the legal, business, leadership, and management aspects of these industries. Modules blend theoretical study with real-world case studies, examples, and assessments to prepare graduates for future employment as well-prepared, adaptable, resilient and innovative leaders in this sector. Students also have opportunities through the programme to continue to develop aspects of their own creative practice, ensuring an understanding of the demands of producing cultural work and an ability to realise and deliver a variety of creative projects.

Students will have opportunities to network and undertake work placements to foster their professional development through the extensive connections that the College and School have with cultural partners in the region and beyond. Recognising the vital role of entrepreneurship and innovation in the sector, graduates will develop multidisciplinary skills and build digital literacy to thrive in the rapidly evolving creative and cultural landscape. Students will also explore the social and ethical implications of their work, learning to create, disseminate and promote content that is socially responsible and culturally sensitive. Finally, the programme aims to prepare students for global careers by exposing them to international perspectives and practices within the cultural and creative industries.

Graduates of this program will possess a diverse set of transferable and industry specific skills, providing them with the attributes and knowledge to be dynamic and adaptable leaders, producers, directors, executives, researchers, educators, and imagineers in the cultural and creative industries.
