This module forms part of a major project which is worth 40 credits. The module comprises: Preparation and delivery of a seminar to staff and peers; Learning of a subject area; A viva to probe the student's overall understanding of project and subject area
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Access background information in the relevant area of physics, via a study of research literature, lectures and web-based information;
Prepare and deliver a talk which will be accessible to the student peer group;
Demonstrate the ability to conduct a project in a coherent and ordered fashion, in particular keep an orderly notebook, attend meetings with the supervisor and think ahead during the conduct of the project;
Display an understanding of the background area of physics by the nature of the presentation and by response to questions at an appropriate level;
Display an understanding of the work in the project by response to questions at an appropriate level;
Defend the work by means of a viva conducted by academic staff.
