Exclusions
Description Comparative analysis in German of a specific aspect of Law in the English and German legal systems selected by arrangement with the supervisor. Lectures will introduce students to the skills required for the comparative research and enhance their knowledge of Comparative law.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of their chosen English and German law topic
  • Apply their knowledge of comparative law in order to engage in a detailed comparative study
  • Use more advance research techniques, in particular in the context of the two legal systems
  • Present primary and secondary sources from both jurisdictions, which deal with the topic and present the current state of the debate on the matters relating to their chosen topic
  • Recognise and evaluate potential alternative approaches for a particular legal problem in German and English jurisdiction and provide supporting reasons
  • Assess his/her progress during the semester, identify and formulate issues on which assistance is needed and act on feedback

Assessment Methods & Exceptions Up to 6000 word assessed dissertation in German.
