The aim of this module is to enable students to define and pursue the sustained programmes of research required for Level 2 essays, presentations, the study trip abroad presentations, and the final year dissertation. It is designed to lead students through the process of defining and developing a research topic, finding and critically evaluating a range of primary and secondary sources, and writing a fully realised research rationale.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Identify a specific theme or topic for history of art research
Identify relevant primary and secondary sources, and relevant works of art for contextual discussion
Critically evaluate available primary and secondary sources relevant to the chosen topic
Develop a research rationale (for the final year dissertation project)

24008-01 : 1,500 Word Annotated Bibliography : Coursework (60%)

Assessments:
Assessment for the module is comprised of two components:
1. Annotated Bibliography (10 x entries of c.150 words – maximum word count 1500 words; the bibliographical references are not part of the word count)
Weighting: 60% of the mark for this module
2. Dissertation Rationale Word count: 1000 words maximum (footnotes included in the word count; bibliography is not)
Weighting: 40% of mark for this module
