Description This module affords students the opportunity of detailed critical engagement with a specific issue in Theology & Religion either in an independent study context or in conjunction with a short series of lectures on the special study topic.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Analyse and explain key events, concepts and issues relevant to the subject under scrutiny;
  • Compare and evaluate the main scholarly views on the subject under investigation;
  • Critically evaluate the theological and/or religious context of, and developing trends in, the subject under exploration;
  • Work with a significant degree of learner independence to explain, analyse and evaluate the material under scrutiny;
  • Summarise, analyse and evaluate the subject material clearly and effectively.
Assessment 24042-05 : Option 1 3000 Word Essay OR Option 2 1500 Word Bibliography : Coursework (50%)
24042-06 : Option 1 1500 Word Reflection OR Option 2 3000 Word Essay : Coursework (50%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:
EITHER 1 x 3,000 word Essay (50%) AND 1 x 1,500 word Project Reflection (50%);
OR
1 x 1,500 word Annotated Bibliography (50%) AND 1 x 3,000 Word Essay (50%) .

Reassessment:
As above but only if extenuating circumstances apply (due to it being LH module)
