Description This module focuses on the delivery of core analytical skills to the students using two approaches to data analysis. We feel that this element of the REM programme required strengthening to ensure the graduates are more competitive in the job market. The module delivers access to industry standard analytical packages (via R) to enhance their core analytical (statistical and modelling) capability.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Use R to manipulate environmental data, undertake basis data exploration and explore sample designs.
  • Create annotated R scripts to under statistical analyses (e.g. Means tests, Linear regression, Generalised Linear regression and Linear Mixed Models, incl. spatial and temporal autocorrelative models).
  • To understand the importance of modelling in assessing environmental responses.
  • To use appropriate and readily accessible software to model environmental parameters spatially and temporally.
