This is a compulsory module to enhance social work skills and values for practice, including ethical principles, boundaries and mechanisms of accountability and support, respect for diversity, communication skills, and the promotion of service user autonomy. In doing so, it builds on the skills students have gained in their first practice placement and develops these further in preparation for their second (final) practice placement in Year 3. It comprises a mix of academic and experiential learning to equip students to engage with more complex and challenging social situations.
