Description
Students will study at a university with which the University of Birmingham maintains an established relationship via the International Office. The modules to be studied will be equivalent in credit terms to a full-time year of study at Birmingham but subjects will be varied according to availability and student preference; the opportunity to study subjects not available at Birmingham will be encouraged.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the subjects studied
Understand the different methodologies and approaches applied to the study of the Ancient World in an academic institution/Museum outside the UK.
Demonstrate an ability to work and produced assessed work independently.

Assessment Methods & Exceptions
Assessment: The student is expected to undertake assessment in accordance with normal practice at the host institution. Students are assessed as per the specified requirements for the modules they choose to take at the host institution.
Students need to take 30 ECTS (or equivalent) per semester. The Year Abroad will be assessed on a pass/fail basis only. Further information on assessing the Year Abroad can be found in the Code of Practice on Taught Programme and Module Assessment and Feedback.
Reassessment: In the case of failure (or partial failure) at the host institution, students will either complete an 8000 (or proportionally shorter in the case of partial failure) word project for reassessment or withdraw from the Year Abroad.
