This module is designed to provide opportunities for students to develop and apply the research skills necessary for critical evidence based practice with added emphasis on the translation of research findings into recommendations for policy and practice – a key intended outcome of the research process.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate a critical understanding of research methods;
In developing a framework for analysis, demonstrate advanced conceptual understanding and apply this to the findings from their research;
In presenting their findings, demonstrate their ability to critically evaluate current research and scholarship within social work, question its reliability and validity, and review hypotheses in response to available evidence;
Consider recommendations for policy and/or practice from their research;
Take responsibility for managing your time and workload effectively, and begin to prioritise your activity including supervision time.
Demonstrate they understand and are working towards Social Work England’s professional standards in readiness for their application for registration.
