Description The aim of the module is to provide an opportunity for students to study at an international university of good repute for a semester and to allow students to acquire first-hand experience of living and working in a foreign country. One semester of study abroad taking modules, in English, (including language modules if the students wish to take them). Modules to be chosen from an approved list relevant to each academic year. Modules will be selected in conjunction with the academic member of staff responsible for the programme, to ensure that they are at an appropriate level, that they do not duplicate our own provision, and that they contribute to the programme. If there is any duplication of our programme, the student will be ineligible to sit those modules on return to Birmingham.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge in relevant subjects.
  • Adjust to a new culture.
  • Demonstrate the ability to study relevant topics at an international institution and appreciate the difference between study in the UK and overseas.
  • Improve the use of a foreign language in a non-English speaking country, where applicable.
Assessment 27213-02 : 30 ECTS Transcript : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Students need to take 30 ECTS (or equivalent) per semester. The semester abroad will be assessed and Students will receive a numerical mark, this mark will contribute to their degree classification. Further information on assessing the semester abroad can be found in the Code of Practice on Taught Programme and Module Assessment and Feedback.

Assessments: The student is expected to undertake assessment in accordance with normal practice at the host institution.
