Description
This module assumes a basic knowledge of community care law and builds on that foundation by exploring and assessing the impact of recent changes in community care legislation and policy, case law and mental health legislation. The use of legislation in practice to empower and protect adults will also be explored.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Identify and apply in practice legislation relevant to adult protection work;
Identify and reflect on the implications for social work practice with adults of case law and the Human Rights Act;
Describe and evaluate how the principles concerning capacity and consent enshrined within mental health and other legislation may be applied in relation to social care practice with adults.
