Description
This module relates to the industrial project, which is a key component of the integral year in industry. Students are required to undertake a project of relevance to industry, and will execute original research. The research-focused work will be conducted within an industrial environment under the supervision of an industrial partner. Students will be expected to comply with the procedures of the host company, as well as complete pieces of work required for formal assessment of the module.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Write professional up-date reports to the style and standard required by the host company;
Provide an oral presentation on the research work executed to the professional standards expected of modern industry;
Adopt a professional and responsible attitude to work;
Demonstrate the application of technical knowledge in an industrial context;
Produce a comprehensive, professional report on the research work conducted.
Assessments: the module is assessed on a pass or fail basis only – a mark is not awarded. There are three components to the assessment: regular up-date reports from the Industrial Supervisor; an oral presentation; and a final report (6,000 - 8,000 words)
