This module will provide a basic understanding of the fundamental components of music therapy, both practical and theoretical. Audio and video clips will be used to explore the nature of this clinical intervention. At least one practical music session will enable students to gain an experiential understanding of this application of music. Students will consider the application of music therapy in relation to topics such as mental health, autism, dementia, neurology, psychotherapeutic approaches and clinical improvisation.
