Description This module aims to provide students with the unique experience of living and studying for a year in a country outside of the UK and of thereby broadening and enhancing their undergraduate education and subsequent career opportunities. Students will prepare for the module by developing a sound knowledge base in the academic subject and, where appropriate, by taking modules in the relevant language during Years 1 and 2. They will be supported before and throughout the year-long module by tutorial guidance and assistance dedicated to students who take this option.

The allocation to the university abroad is based on student preference and availability of places as defined by the International Office. This year is taken on a pass/fail basis. If the module is passed, they will graduate with a degree in “BA/BSc Geography with year abroad” or BSc Global Environmental Change and Sustainability with year abroad”; the mark does not contribute to the overall degree classification. Subject to satisfactory attainment of the programme regulations, students will progress to the final year (Year 4) at Birmingham.
