Description The aim of the module is to provide an opportunity for students to study at an international university of good repute for a year and to allow students to acquire first-hand experience of living or working in a foreign country.

An optional year abroad taking modules, in English, relevant to the History of Art programme.

Modules to be chosen from an approved list relevant to the History of Art programme. Modules will be selected in conjunction with the academic member of staff responsible for the programme, to ensure that they are at an appropriate level, that they do not duplicate our own provision, and that they contribute to the programme. If there is any duplication of our programme, the student will be ineligible to sit those modules on return to Birmingham.

Students must have achieved a minimum overall weighted average of 55 at the end of the first year in order to be eligible for study abroad.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge in relevant subjects.
  • Adjust to a new culture.
  • Demonstrate the ability to study relevant topics at an international institution and appreciate the difference between study in the UK and overseas.
  • Improve the use of a foreign language in a non-English speaking country, where applicable.
