Description The content will vary according to the research area. This module will:
1. Enable the student to formulate and carry out all the phases of a research study under the guidance of an experienced supervisor.
2. Allow the student to gain insight and first-hand experience of the research process in Neuroscience.
3. Enable the student to develop skills in organisation, project management, team-work and communication.
4. Give the student experience and confidence in public presentation of their work in a professional setting. Chairing oral presentation settings and asking pertinent research questions in public.

Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Formulate a clear research question along with a structured plan for answering it by empirical study
  • Carry out a substantial empirical study using methods appropriate to the research field
  • Organise and analyse a body of data in a professional manner using appropriate computational methods
  • Write a clear and succinct report of the study in a form that would be suitable for publication in a research journal
  • Describe the study and its main findings in a clear oral presentation using suitable visual aids
  • Evaluate the success of the study and discuss possible lines of further enquiry
