This module requires students to engage with key texts in contemporary critical theory relating to sexualities and genders in order to understand how it informs discussions of queer spiritualities, queer readings of scriptural texts and queer/indecent theologies. Students will discuss critically issues such as the naturalization and construction of heterosexuality, the effects of heteronormativity and its implications for how LGBTQ-identified people integrate sex/gender choices with their faith journeys.
