Description
The module provides students with an opportunity to engage with their chosen industry by working within it (normally in a paid capacity) over their summer vacation(s). This also fulfils the requirement for PGA membership. They will be expected to work with a PGA Professional for a minimum of 240 hours in order to gain experience within the golf industry and explore and apply the academic modules they have engaged with in an applied manner (e.g. business, coaching, club fitting, and applied sports science).
The module allows them to experience the industry first hand and also make contacts and develop skills of graduateness and broader life skills (e.g. CV development, interviews, placement negotiation, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, independent living).
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Reflect upon their experiences within the industry
Identify individual strengths and weaknesses in their professional conduct
Outline areas for future personal development.
Develop skills of graduateness and identify opportunities for post-graduation employment
