Description
This module introduces the statistical software R, with emphasis on data analysis and visualization.
Students are given examples to illustrate the software scope and syntax and required to experiment with the examples by themselves.
Students will be familiar with the software environment, learn how to input and output different data files into R, and use R’s software tools to explore and analyse data, including regression analysis and hypothesis testing.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Summarize and present data numerically and visually using R.
Choose appropriate methods to analyse a given data set.
Use R to perform basic statistical inference, including simple linear regression and hypothesis testing.
Demonstrate critical awareness about data-based claims assumptions underlying statistical models.
Apply basic statistical analysis on real data using R.
