Description This module aims to provide you with a detailed knowledge of how the UK Parliament works (in both theory and practice). Guest speakers from Parliament will complement traditional lectures and seminars to provide you with an in-depth knowledge of how the Houses of Parliament operates both in terms of formal procedures and in terms of informal cultures, traditions and relationships. The main focus of the module will be the UK Parliament but you will be encouraged to adopt a comparative approach when appropriate.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how the UK Parliament works.
  • Provide theoretically-informed analyses of particular aspects of Parliament and parliamentary activity.
  • Present their research in a public-facing, engaging and accessible manner.
