This module aims at the advanced learner of the language. It will further develop and extend listening, reading and writing skills acquired at previous levels. Students will acquire a high level of competence in written and oral language. Teaching is through practical language classes involving both whole group and small-group/pair-work activities, aiming at developing all language skills, with emphasis on oral communication. Visual aids, audio/video recordings and the Internet are used routinely. Active participation of students in class is encouraged. However, particular emphasis will be put on receptive skills (reading & listening).
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Read and demonstrate understanding of selected authentic articles from the press;
Listen to substantial extracts of spoken language taken from authentic broadcast sources and demonstrate understanding of key elements;
Work with a variety of authentic sources in the target language including the internet, newspapers, TV and radio programmes;
Show evidence of working towards the use of the German language to B1.2 level of the CEFR for languages.

A 30-minute online listening test [50%]. Students have 24 hours to access the paper.
A 45-minute grammar/vocabulary online test [50%]. Students have 24 hours to access the paper.
