Exclusions
Description This module introduces students to the legacy and role of Shakespeare in twentieth and twenty-first century culture. It is divided into two study blocks, focused on Shakespeare in the theatre and Shakespeare in education. Students will explore a number of Shakespeare’s plays as they have been and are used and interpreted within these contexts.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of Shakespeare in the theatre and for education;
  • Identify and use critical scholarship on the role of Shakespeare in the theatre and for education;
  • Analyse particular Shakespeare plays in terms of performance history and as they are used within education.
