Exclusions
Description This module introduces students to the legacy and role of Shakespeare in twentieth and twenty-first century culture. It is divided into two study blocks, focused on Shakespeare in society and Shakespeare and heritage culture. Students will explore a number of Shakespeare’s plays as they have been and are used and interpreted within these contexts.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of the role of Shakespeare’s cultural afterlife in society, and in heritage culture;
  • Identify and use critical scholarship on the role of Shakespeare in society and in heritage culture;
  • Analyse particular Shakespeare plays in terms of community engagement and heritage culture.
