Description This module provides an introduction to the key aspects of ancient Greek civilisation, focusing on historical events, great works of literature, art, and other archaeological evidence. It provides students with a chronological framework within which various themes and bodies of evidence will be examined.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Show understanding of key aspects of ancient Greek civilisation (history, literature, art, and archaeology);
  • Show understanding of a range of modern debates and key ideas about ancient Greek civilisation;
  • Synthesise ancient material and academic arguments;
  • Present arguments concerning the material studied by producing a coherent argument supported by detailed reference to primary material.
