Exclusions
Description This module, and its co-requisite People and Places B, introduces students to group projects and group assessment. Working on a supervised topic relating to a particular place or person they will present their findings collectively at the end of the module. People and Places has two strands, the local (pertaining to the Birmingham/West Midlands area) and the global (pertaining to the world beyond Europe). Students would be required to cover both strands over the course of the two co-requisite modules.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Understand and explain the main features of a defined historical topic;
  • Work as an effective team-member of a group examining a specific historical topic;
  • Present effectively a range of primary and secondary sources using oral communication skills in the context of a group presentation.
Assessment 33729-01 : Group Presentation : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:
25-30 minute group oral group presentation (100%) depending on group size (5 or 6)

Reassessment:
5 minute individual presentation
