Exclusions
Description The objective of this module is to introduce students to the French legal system, notably the process of codification and the Code civil, the sources of French law, judges and the independence of the judiciary and the French court system.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the French legal system and of its founding principles;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the main differences between codified Constitution (French law tradition) and an uncodified Constitution (English law tradition);
  • Read and show understanding of French cases and French academic writings;
  • Draft case reports using the French methodology;
  • Discuss general rules of French legal system using the adequate French legal concepts.
