Exclusions
Description	The module will use psychological case-studies, scenarios and problem-based learning to encourage engagement with study skills in a manner tailored to Psychology and Neuroscience students’ needs. The use of case studies and scenarios is intended to demonstrate the professional relevance of the skills addressed. The module learning outcomes align directly with the QAA’s generic skills for Psychology students. Interactive Lectures (consisting of introduction to materials and small group-based activities): Adapting to University Study (General Study skills); Finding what you need to know (Library Induction); Representing your input professionally (Plagiarism); What each of us can bring to the task (Group working skills); Looking beneath the surface (Critical thinking); Sharing understandings (Writing skills). Seminars: Getting the most out of your Research Methods modules (Basic Maths and Probability skills); Working with your Feedback (Learning from feedback) 3 tutorial sessions to encompass a draft, peer-feedback, redraft and submit cycle for an essay. (plus 1 reading week)
Learning Outcomes	By the end of the module students should be able to: Communicate ideas and research findings by written, oral and visual means; Interpret and use numerical, textual and other forms of data; Solve problems by clarifying questions, considering alternative solutions and evaluating outcomes; Be sensitive to, and take account of, contextual and interpersonal factors in groups and teams; Undertake self-directed study and project management, in order to meet desired objectives; Take charge of their own learning, and reflect and evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses for the purposes of future learning.

Assessment Methods & Exceptions	This modules will not be taken alone but as a 10+10 module only (alongside a new module being introduced in 2023-24: LC Ideas, Concepts and Ethics in Psychology and Neuroscience, Semester 2; module code pending). These modules will be assessed synoptically according to the following methods: Assessments: 1. MCQ exam, 1h (50% of 20 credits) 2. Essay, 1000 words (50% of 20 credits) Reassessment: 1. MCQ and SAQ exam, 1h (100% of 20 credits)
