Description This module is designed to develop students’ understanding of key issues in research into language and multimodal communication. The emphasis is on the methodologies and objectives of language research in the social sciences. Students will undertake small-scale research projects in which they will collect data and analyse it, according to descriptive frameworks that they are studying in this and companion modules.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Carry out a language investigation from a specified range of options, including collecting relevant language data;
  • Analyse the research data using appropriate methods;
  • Produce reports of findings.
