Description This module is designed to develop students’ understanding of key issues in research into language and multimodal communication. The emphasis is on quantitative and experimental methods for investigating language. Students will develop a research proposal, including the formulation of a research question based on a brief literature review and the design of an empirical study.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Participate in a language experiment and assess the purpose of the methodology;
  • Conduct a short literature review and formulate a research question on a language related topic;
  • Design an appropriate empirical study to investigate the research question.
